THE ORGANISER

Somerset artist Alce Harfield has been a professional artist for over 30 years. She started her career (after a BA Hons in Commercial Interior Design) from a barrow at The Watershed by Bristol’s docks in 1989.

Alce spent 10 years running The Silly Fish Shop in Bath and Bristol and now sells her vibrant paintings by travelling the country from Edinburgh to Surrey at Art Fairs. A trader at Glastonbury Festival for over 30 years, her festival work has been extremely popular, and she has collaborated with many festival-related charities including ‘Children’s World’, ‘The Festival Medical Services‘, and the ‘Joe Strummer Foundation’ to raise much needed funds.

Tired of travelling the country and becoming aware that there were no art fairs in Somerset, Alce decided to create her own, drawing on her considerable experience in exhibiting.

The Really Reasonable Art Fairs in Bristol and Bath were her first events, followed by the Somerset Art Fair at the Bath and West Showground in 2015. The Bath Art Fair was first held in a field just outside Bath in 2017, and now in its seventh year is excited to be returning to the Bath Pavilion.

The Bath Art Fair was shortlisted for a prestigious Bath Life Award in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2023. In 2018 it WON the Creative Bath award and was shortlisted again in 2020 in the ‘Arts’ section…a testament to Alce’s hard work, forward thinking and tenacity.
