Free Community Music Festival: The Groove Edition
Join us at the next event in our series of free community festivals, presenting 5 awesome funk, soul, pop and jazz bands across 2 stages! In partnership with Bath Spa University and Bath College, this mini festival will run from 4:45pm - 10:15pm and is guaranteed to get you grooving! On the bill: Cable Street Collective, Badlands, Ryan D’Auria, Vonj and Plume. All ages welcome (with under 16’s to be accompanied by an adult). Our kitchen will be open throughout serving festival favourites, pizzas and light bites. This event will have a British Sign Language interpreter on stage for all three Main Stage performances! This is a free event but we ask that you book tickets so we can best manage the evening for you! THE LINE-UP The Cable Street Collective The band are a permanent fixture on the festival circuit and have built up a stellar reputation as a live band, with upbeat rhythms and Congolese-influenced guitar sounds; they make music that makes you want to dance! Festival highlights (so far) including: Latitude, Secret Garden Party, Electric Picnic, Great Estate Festival (just before Manic Street Preachers!), Boardmasters, Glastonbury Avalon Stage, Shambala, Boomtown, The Isle of Wight, Bestival, and the Lake of Stars Festival (Malawi). Recent supports have included Molotov Jukebox, The Dualers and Go_A! Ryan D’Auria Forged in the flames of Funk & Soul, Ryan developed a love for groove at a young age. Ryan composes, arranges, performs and produces all of his original music, which he brings to life with his fiercely talented 9 piece Funk’N’Roll band. Ryan’s infectious stage presence and soulful musicality enchants his audiences, and guarantees a party wherever he and his Funk’N’Roll band go. Badlands Badlands is a 6- Piece Funk/RnB Band based in and around Bath & Bristol. They come together to craft a unique, yet reminiscent sound by drawing elements from various musical genres, both old & new. The project sets out from the get-go to fuse the vibrant power of classic Motown with the assertive grit & rhythmic flow of 90’s Hip/Hop - whilst still drawing lyrical influence from Rappers of the modern era. Vonj Vonj is a self taught musician born in Kenya & currently active in the UK. After Vonj released his 4th album ‘Ruach’, he began working on a new band project. The band line up consists of Vonj on guitar & vocals, David Farrell on drums, Sam Roberts & Jorge Fundo on bass, Djo Carpentier on Sax & Alex Alderson on keyboards. Together they create an electric groove driven sound, fusing together a variety of original musical elements. Plume An instrumental groove machine transcending musical genres: jazz, funk and post rock.
